Trash Timer Updates Top

Current Version

Version 1.4.3

  • Fixed a problem with combat log filters breaking the addon.
  • Changed timer to start after you leave combat after the first kill.
  • Changed output for warnings to the Boss Emote Frame.

Previous versions

Version 1.4

  • Changed event hooking to improve performance.
  • Fixed an error on updating that caused inaccurate warnings.
  • Revamped for 2.4.0 combat log changes.
  • Condensed the database coding to make it easier to read.
  • Reverted the update frequency to 1.0 seconds.
  • Trimmed unnecessary code from main coding blocks.

Version 1.3

  • Changed NPC names for Morogrim Tidewalker trash to the murloc packs, since the bridge trash is tied to two different bosses.
  • Added in a timer for the Morogrim-Leotheras bridge trash. Requires manual reset.
  • Increased OnUpdate frequency to improve the 30, 10, and respawn automatic warnings.

Version 1.2

  • Added slash commands to change settings and add functionality.
  • Fixed an error in Gruul’s Lair where both Gruul and High King Maulgar’s timers would start on first mobs killed.
  • Enabled ZA timers. Only one timer is confirmed at this time (Jan’alai, and yes, I sat there 2 hours). The rest are estimates.
  • Optimized by removing checks outside of instance for mob kills.
  • When you die outside of the instances covered, you will no longer see the timer spam.
  • Fixed a bug with Nalorakk’s timer (ZA).
  • Fixed an error when you kill a boss before its trash. It now shuts off the timer instead of starting it.
  • Fixed an error with ambiguous trash behind Morogrim Tidewalker starting the timer for The Lurker Below if the mod was reset before getting there.
  • Fixed a variable scoping error with the Romulo and Julianne fight.
  • Changed the maximum length between Romulo and Julianne’s deaths to 11 seconds. Note: this may or may not reset properly if the second kill was very close to 10 seconds after the first. Use “/tt clear opera” to clear it if it does not work.

Version 1.1

  • Fixed a bug where boss timers would restart when trash associated with them was killed.
  • Fixed an error where Shade of Aran’s timer would start before killing Curator.
  • Fixed a problem recognizing Opera bosses.

Trash Timer Information Top
This addon uses the combat text to record npc kills in the raiding instances covered. Once a boss’ trash mob is identified, it begins a timer to keep track of respawn time. This allows raid leaders a useful tool to conclude whether to go one last time at a boss, if there is time to release and run back, and to attempt a boss that was passed up earlier.

Unlike other addons, this only tracks the first group of mobs killed. Considering that those are the ones that would block reentry of the instance or part of the instance, it is more useful than each group’s individual respawn time. This also helps identify which timer has to do with which boss, instead of when one particular pack will respawn.

Another feature of Trash Timer is it doesn’t use a graphical interface to use more memory or space on your screen. It prints out all warnings and inquiries to the default chat frame. To save space, it also uses slash commands to access options and to display the timers.

Details Top
When the first unique mob dies, the timer starts. When the time to respawn reaches 30 minutes and 10 minutes, it will automatically warn you in the chat window (can be disabled via slash command). When the timer expires, it will warn you in red text. If you die in the instance, it will display all active timers so you can decide whether to call players to run back or not. At any time, you can type “/tt” or “/trashtimer” to display the active timers.

Slash Commands Top

  • /tt help will display the full command list
  • /tt clear boss name will clear the boss’ trash, if specified. If no name is specified, it will clear all active timers.
  • /tt warn on|off will enable or disable the 30 and 10 minute warnings. The respawn alert will still display. Default is on.
  • /tt will display the active timers.

Contact Information Top

Feel free to contact me if there are any problems with the addon (and PLEASE do). I can’t test everything because I don’t go everywhere, and am usually tanking too much to see if it is right :)

You can feel free to send me an e-mail. If you have a character on Dragonblight-US, you can also mail Aranis there. Enjoy the addon!
