Importing Old Site Content

by Urahara ~ January 26, 2008

During the next week I’ll be importing a lot of the old site content into the new site. Mostly this will be guild news, documentation, and some forum topics. Some things will be moved out of the forums which the new site’s forums is set up for “discussions” and news/info will be contained in the front end.

If you have some topics on the old forums, take some time to import them into the new forums. The structure is basically the same, simplified somewhat. Then tag (def. Wikipedia) the content with its relevant metadata. For example, our forums consist of top-level sections: General, Guild, Resources, Classes, Officers. Topics are organized into these sections to sort the information in general, then tags in our forums help describe the content contained within those posts. So, if there are a bunch of “howto” posts tagged accordingly, you can click the howto tag and it’ll list all the content described as that topic.

Lane, would you please bring over the post that explained how to equalize the inbound sound on Vent? That was very helpful & I’m sure I’ll probably need it again one day.

Sorry Nein, didn’t see this. I will.
